There were layers of patches where his arms had been repaired over the years and fortunately his original pads were still underneath, albeit in a bad state.....As the aim was to keep the original paw pads I decided to stitch them onto felt and then reline them again with linen...I was careful to colour in the new felt that would show through the holes...It was a very time consuming process but I'm happy to say that I managed to save the pads and they were strong enough to resew back into place....Please scroll along to see the finished result....
His kind owner has had the lovely idea to keep all of the historical patches and will be using them in some creative way, maybe attaching them to a scarf or making a bow tie so that he can keep his history with him...
